I am an Assistant Head Teacher at North Ridge Specialist School and have responsibility for the Key Stage 4 department. I have been at North Ridge School since September 2012 and an SLE since January 2017.

I have been a class teacher, then TLR post holder and in the past 3 years Assistant Head Teacher. My skills as a practitioner are outstanding and professional feedback has identified me as a very strong role model for the teachers at North Ridge. I have very strong skills in the area of behaviour management and led this aspect of the school work on a temporary basis for a 12 month period. I provide on-going support for our NQT staff and in the past for our Schools Direct trainee teacher.

I have a strong solution focused approach to challenging situations, identifying the steps to improvement and building the team around me.

I set very high standards for the Key Stage 4 department and support colleagues very well in enabling them to develop their skills.

I have developed the format of lesson observations at North Ridge through training I attended from Cambridge Education on evaluating teaching and learning and have used my skills in school self- evaluation to embed strong leadership to the wider leadership team in developing their skills in lesson observation.

In addition to leading Key Stage 4, I have also led an outreach programme for North Manchester schools which has offered a programme of training to support teachers to understand how to effectively differentiate lessons to best support pupils with additional needs. Outreach support has included class based observations, meeting with teachers and non teaching staff and developing pupil focused support plans.

During 2014/15 I was the lead teacher for behaviour and outreach. During this time I provided training and support to North District high schools- – Training provided included – Autism, Assessment of P levels using B squared, Behaviour management, differentiation. For every training session provided I assessed the starting point and training needs of the school, produced a training and support plan and evaluated the work  following the training- immediately afterwards and then at a later date in the term. Feedback through the written evaluation was always strong and verbal feedback direct from the Head Teachers was always positive.
