Teach Manchester offers a School Direct Route of Initial Teacher Training. School Direct is a year long postgraduate route to qualified teacher status which is led by a school alliance. In this route your training programme is designed by the alliance to help you meet the requirements for the award of Qualified Teacher Status and a 60 Masters Credit postgraduate certificate in education (PGCE).
Teach Manchester’s School Direct programme is designed to develop the skills our schools are looking for in a newly qualified teacher (NQT).
You’ll become a part of your main placement school team from September. You will receive intensive support from our experienced team of teachers and mentors from the beginning of your placement. You’ll build your skills through observation, reflection, and attendance at both alliance led training sessions and university led sessions. This will support you in building your skill set towards teaching whole lessons, and then onto a significant timetable by the end of the year.

Representatives from the alliance will be on hand to talk to you about your individual circumstances and the application process during the drop in session. Please do feel free to bring a draft of your personal statement, or specific questions you’d like answered. A presentation will run at 5pm and 6pm containing general information on the Teach Manchester School Direct offer.
Registration is preferred to help us us to plan the appropriate staffing levels, however if you have not registered you are still welcome to come and see us on the night.

Can I still apply for 2019 entry?
This depends on the subject that you wish to teach. Some subjects are now full and closed on UCAS for 2019 entry with us. Other subjects do still have places available; but this can change as the national cap on places is reached. We will endevour to keep this list up to date and contact those who have registed with a specific subject.

If you are looking for 2019 or 2020 entry; you are welcome to come and see us, though please note that there is no fee/bursary information avalible for 2020 entry yet.
What time should I arrive?
A presentation will be run at 5pm and 6pm and staff will be on hand between 4:30pm and 6:30pm. We recommend that you arrive no later than 6:10pm. There is no requirement to arrive and stay for the full time slot; if we’ve answered your questions, do feel free to leave when you’re ready to.
Is there parking at the venue?
St Peter’s has a car park which is accessed from Kirkmanshulme Lane. We anticipate that there will be space for most visitors, however this cannot be guaranteed. Street parking in the immediate vicinity of the school is without restriction.
Can I get there by Public Transport?
St Peter’s is a short walk from Belle Vue Train Station. It can also be accessed by bus from Stockport Road (the A6) such as the 192 from Piccadilly to Stockport Route. Alternatively, it is a short walk from the buses which run down Hyde Road (A57) such as the 201, 203.
