Getting School Experience

Supporting you into Teaching

Prior experience in a school is not a mandatory requirement for entry to Teacher Training.  However, our strongest applicants have obtained some experience in a school prior to submitting their application.

School experience can:

  • clarify your thinking regarding the age phase in which you want to teach
  • give you a greater understanding of classroom, pastoral responsibilities and the duties involved in the wider role of a teacher
  • ensure that you are making the correct career decision for you.

Many of our Strategic Partners offer School Experience. In most cases you will need to follow the school application process to become a volunteer.

If you are considering training to teach in Physics or Mathematics; you might want to consider applying for our Teaching Internship Scheme.
