As an experienced teacher, I have developed effective strategies to close the gap in education and to ensure that all children fulfil their full potential.
In 2014 I was given the role to create and set up a challenge curriculum with a continuous approach. After successfully establishing the provision, I was involved in delivering workshops and coaching other key stage 1 teachers from the Manchester area.
After embedding the year 1 challenge curriculum, I was chosen to move the provision into year 2. This led to further workshops on how to enable a good transition from nursery to year 2. My role is to give advice on how to promote independent learners, peer coaching and how to constantly identify and address misconceptions to close gaps in learning. Following this, colleagues from other schools have observed my teaching. I have offered support, advice and examples of planning, to enable them to develop the challenge approach within their school.
As part of my SLE role, I am continuing to offer support to colleagues from other schools to help close the gap in education and maximise teaching and learning.
