I am the head teacher of North Ridge High Specialist Support School in North Manchester. I have been a head teacher for 20 years and have been a senior leader for 30 years in a number of special schools. I am a National Leader of Education. North Ridge is a National Support School.
North Ridge is a very inclusive special school with 200 pupils aged 11-19 years. We meet the needs of pupils who have a range of SEN and are from the culturally rich and diverse community of North Manchester. We have developed a strong school that offers the widest opportunities to our pupils and prepares them for adulthood including employment. System leadership is a strength and we are passionate about providing the best quality experience for our pupils including teaching and learning. The North Ridge community is very important and we hard to ensure our pupils and their families feel part of the community.
We have a café we run in the local community, a preloved shop, we run an allotment, catering and have a manufacturing business selling on Etsy.
Our strengths are meeting the individual needs of pupils with SEN, behaviour support and we have a curriculum that builds strong foundations for our pupils to progress into adulthood.
I have provided SEN support to a number of mainstream as well as special schools.
