Funding has been approved by the National College for Teaching and Leadership to deliver a Teacher Subject Specialism Training course in secondary Physics.
This course is designed to support non- specialist science teachers at KS3 and 4 with the option to extend to KS5. The content will cover the main topics covered at KS3 and 4 namely; forces and motion, energy, waves, electricity and magnetism, matter and space, nuclear and thermal physics. Development of topics to KS5 level will be available for those wishing to improve their knowledge and further develop their understanding.
The course will be delivered by very experienced Physics tutors in 12 twilight face to face sessions (2 per half term). Some of these sessions will take place in the high schools using equipment familiar to participants and some at Loreto College. There will be mentor supported online tasks, questions and assessment, and additional in-school support where required. The face to face sessions will incorporate theory, demonstrations, practical work, mathematical aspects and delivery modes. Participants will be expected to undertake additional private study and exercises.
This is an Institute Of Physics enabled, community approved course.
