Facilitating the learning of primary school aged children is something I am truly passionate about. I am currently completing my initial teacher training at Manchester Metropolitan University and it is my strong desire to work as an outstanding teacher within the Greater Manchester area.
I am proud to have achieved a 2:1 BSc (Hons) degree in Psychology in 2012. My degree level studies provided me with an in-depth understanding of child development as well as conditions which may affect learning such as Autism and ADHD. I was able to consolidate this learning through practical experience in my role as a student support worker for the National Autistic Society.
My desire to become a teacher was confirmed whilst working as a TA in an outstanding primary school in North Manchester. During my three years in this position I established a strong foundation in areas such as behaviour management, differentiation and planning.
During my training I have undertaken placements in both key stage one and two and have built up an excellent rapport with pupils; this has been acknowledged by my mentors. I recognise pupil interests and build these into lessons plans to ensure maximum engagement. I aim to increase each child’s access to the curriculum, including those with SEN, through appropriate use of differentiation. My behaviour management skills have been highlighted as an area of strength and I model high expectations of all pupils within lessons. I continue to reflect upon areas of need in my practice to ensure continuous professional development.
