This workshop, run by St Mary’s Primary School, focuses on how Teaching Assistants can best support learning in classrooms which are adopting the Singapore approach to maths. It is suitable for new TA’s and also experienced TA’s who are new to Singapore Maths.
It will include an observation of a Singapore maths lesson, guidance on how to question learners and encouraging problem solving skills whilst not ‘instructing’ and discussion with experienced TA’s.
This workshop includes:
– a demonstration of a Singapore maths lesson
– discussion with experienced TA’s and maths lead
– a workshop on questioning learners and encouraging problem solving skills whilst not ‘instructing’
– the opportunity to look at our text books and examples of children’s work and their journals
