Ann Flatman is a Deputy Headteacher  at Trinity CofE High School in Manchester whose career to date spans across both faith and non-denominational schools and highly urban and urban fridge areas.

Ann has a dual teaching specialism, commencing her career as an English and Drama Teacher and later retraining to become a Business Studies specialist.  She has held a variety of leadership roles in school, both curriculum roles as a Head of Faculty and pastoral in Head of Year roles.  Ann has mentored a number of student teachers  as the school’s Professional Mentor.  Ann is involved in the recruitment and selection of Secondary Subject Trainees applying to the Teach Manchester School Direct Programme.      At Trinity; her Deputy Headship role has spanned both pastoral care for students and school staffing. At present her role focuses on Teachers’ Standards and professional development.  Ann is an Assistant Designated Safeguarding Lead.

Ann has held positions on the Senior Leadership Team in two schools; most recently she was a member of the team that led Trinity to gain its Outstanding Ofsted judgement in 2014; and through the opening inspection of the new sixth form in 2017 which also received an Outstanding judgement.  Ann has led on a variety of programmes in school; including the school specialism status, the Teaching School which was designated in 2016 and the award of the license to deliver the National Professional Qualification in Middle and Senior Leadership in 2017.

Ann holds a Masters in Educational Leadership and Management and has previously taught on this award.  Ann brokered the relationship with Manchester Metropolitan University to offer a supported Masters’ programme on the Trinity site.

Ann is an active member of the Teach Manchester Teaching School Alliance.   She  sits on the Strategic Group and leads on the National Professional Qualification in Middle and Senior Leadership and has oversight of the Masters in Education and Educational Leadership programmes delivered in collaboration with Manchester Metropolitan University.
