National Professional Qualifications

By June 21, 2022July 8th, 2022Events, School Direct

We are pleased to announce we will be continuing to work alongside the Church of England, who are one of the nine national providers for the new and reformed National Professional Qualifications for the next round of NPQs starting in 22/23. Please find details of the range of courses at this link below. All applications are made centrally, the registration link can also be found at the link below.

Over the last year we have delivered the NPQSL course and also the renamed Early Headship Coaching Offer to delegates across Manchester. Feedback has been extremely positive and we are looking forward to continuing to develop our future leaders.

As well as confirming that all NPQs will continue to be fully funded for at least the next two years, the DfE announced that they would be putting ‘Targeted support funding’ in place. This means that, from Autumn 2022, state-funded schools and 16-19 settings with between 1 and 600 pupils will be paid £200 for each teacher or leader they employ who takes an NPQ. You

can read more here.

This funding is aimed at helping teachers and leaders in smaller settings who may find it harder to engage with professional development.

We are sure that you will agree that this is fantastic news for schools, teachers and leaders right across the country and we hope that this will enable many more participants to take part in our NPQs from the autumn.

Please see a link below to a case study evidencing how NPQs have transformed CPD in RISE Multi Academy Trust.

We were also delighted to see the DfE published a blog featuring Dave Ellison-Lee, the Director of Learning and NPQH facilitator at RISE MAT in the East Midlands, one of the trusts who have been working with the Church of England to deliver the NPQs. The blog showcases the transformational impact that the NPQs have had on teachers and leaders at the RISE MAT, the strategic approach that their trust has taken to CPD and would be a great article to share as we promote the NPQs for the Autumn.
‘NPQs have changed the way we plan our continuing professional development (CPD). The funding designated to the programmes means that more teachers and leaders than ever before can access qualifications. At RISE, we are seizing this opportunity to supplement trust-wide CPD programmes and replace some external programmes which may not be as cost-effective or time-efficient.’ – Dave Ellison-Lee.
