Current responsibilities

I am currently School Direct lead for Teach Manchester, working with trainees, schools, colleges, and three ITT providers across a large Teaching School Alliance. In recognition of the excellent quality of the Initial Teacher Training programme at Teach Manchester led by St Peter’s RC High School, the University of Manchester and MMU have recognised us as ‘Outstanding Established Partnership Schools’.

My leadership role in school is Teaching and Learning and CPD both for trainees, and experienced staff.

As part of this role I have the National College facilitation accreditation to deliver the MLDP (middle leadership development programme), the OLEVI facilitation accreditation to deliver the ITP (Improving Teacher’s Programme) and OTP (outstanding Teacher Programme) programmes and lead on TEEP in school which is The Effective Teacher Enhancement programme. I have also passed the Cambridge Effective lesson observation course, and am one of the lead lesson observers for Teaching and Learning at St Peter’s.

My subject specialism is Technology, and over the last couple of years I have used this expertise working with two schools on the outskirts of Manchester in a school to school support capacity.

Why I chose to be an SLE

Over the last five year I have worked collaboratively and helped to support schools in an informal setting, in Teaching and Learning, CPD and ITT.

I always find it a great pleasure to share knowledge and expertise, and see people and departments develop over time. In the same instance, as an SLE we are privileged to go into other schools and invariably we may find examples of good practice to bring back to our own schools, which in return helps us all to provide the best educational experiences for children.

Specific area of expertise:

  • ITT
  • Teaching and Learning
  • CPD

Initial Teacher Training- How might I be able to help other schools develop a school led system.

By developing programmes, creating home grown teachers, closing the recruitment gap, addressing local needs, resisting change, learning the UCAS system, expanding on providers, building on a partnership, developing the interview process, and CPD opportunities.

I am available to assist on request.
