I have spent my whole teaching career dedicated to supporting students with SEND and in 2016 I moved from a longstanding post as an Assistant Headteacher at a hospital school to Piper Hill High School as a Deputy Headteacher.
As Deputy Headteacher, some of my whole school responsibilities are Initial Teacher Training (ITT) and Personal Development, Behaviour and Welfare. I believe that a holistic approach is one that should be promoted across all facets of education in order to support children’s progress academically as well as socially and emotionally.
I am passionate about training the next generation of outstanding teachers and believe that Piper Hill School Direct and Teach Manchester allow for true collaboration across partner and alliance schools. This is why I chose to apply for Specialist Leader of Education designation for ITT and SEND. This supports teachers across all levels of career progression to develop their own CPD as well as supporting the development of my own expertise and leadership but more importantly it creates the ethos that allows the children of Manchester to make the best progress that they can.
